Though there were many gods that Elysha was close to in the heavens, there was no one she loved more than Saol, the goddess of creation. The two were inseparable and looked after each other like the sisters they were. Elysha, being the older, took it upon herself to teach Saol all she knew of the cosmos. Saol delighted in Elysha’s attention and did her best to live up to the high standards her sister set for her.
Together they lit up the heavens with one of Saol’s many creations, made to show her love for her older sister. The stars were created by Saol to help bring balance to the darkness and she allowed Elysha to hang them in the dark sky to preserve the balance between light and dark. The pair also visited the more friendly gods when they were not defending themselves against the more ambitious or petty gods. It was during this time of relative peace that the sisters became friends with Baelbus, the chaos deity.

Baelbus was an androgynous deity, being neither male nor female, which fit the chaos that always surrounded them. How exactly the goddess of balance and the deity of chaos became friends was a mystery to everyone but themselves, but the two soon had a bond that rivaled the bond between the sisters. Saol also became friends with Baelbus, though their bond was not as strong because she could not understand Baelus’ chaotic ways. Despite this, Saol trusted Elysha when she was told Baelbus was a true friend.
So when the battle for control over the heavens truly began, the three deities made a pact with each other. They would always stand together against any foe who dared to challenge them. They were a formidable team, though those who they did defeat never recognized them as their superiors. Undeterred by that, Elysha was sure that if they stayed together, the three of them could be the ones to finish the great celestial war. Unlike most of the other gods, they trusted each other to keep them safe and support whenever one of them began to be overwhelmed. It was a good system of protection and Elysha was convinced that because of the bond the three shared, none of the other gods would get the better of them.

It was not long before the heaven’s inhabitants divided themselves into loose alliances of fickle loyalties and many of those gods closest to Elysha and Saol wanted to join with them to help battle against the rising power of Arex and Jinju. Though many of these new potential allies did not fully trust Baelbus’ chaotic nature to help them when it was needed, they did trust the sisters to lead them to victory over their strong and cunning foes. Not once did Elysha believe they could not overcome the challenges presented by the enemy with just the three of the pact, so she politely turned the other gods away. She knew the bond she shared with Saol and Baelbus could overcome anything.
The battle had been intense, but in the end, the victors were declared and they were Arex and Jinju. Being the goddess of balance, Elysha was naturally outraged by the underhanded means by which the twins had crowned themselves ruler. She was very vocal about her dissent, as were the other gods that had sought to join her during the war. However, the new rulers were not ones to allow anything but complete obedience from their new subjects. The twins quickly rounded up all that openly opposed them and imprisoned them until Jinju could come up with a plan to punish the now traitors.
